Some settings on your brokerage account might prevent AutoInvest from trading. For example:
- You do not turn on the specific trading permissions for your IB account. Please refer to How do I turn on relevant trading permissions for IB account? article. This is especially important for robots that trade US stocks.
- You need to complete some forms in your brokerage platform, e.g: new terms and conditions, new questionnaire, acknowledgement on new trading requirement, etc.
- Your capital is insufficient to open up any trades. Do note that IB MARGIN account will require minimum 2000 USD (approx 3500 SGD) to trade.
- Your account type is CASH and you are trading in stock denominated in different currency. e.g. USD trading in SGD account. Refer to How to change my cash account with IB to margin account article to resolve.
- You need to confirm your mobile number and fill in your tax information.
- There are more than one instance of AutoInvest application running.
- There are more than one instance of IB Gateway running.
- Port 7497 stuck. There is an occasion which even after you configure the IB Gateway and AutoInvest and ensure only 1 instances running, it still prompts "Cannot connect to port 7497" popup after clicking "Reconnect" on AutoInvest Dashboard. To resolve this, please do the following:
- On IB Gateway, click Configure -> Setting
- Change Socket port 7497 to other port (e.g. 7496). Click Apply.
- Change Socket port back to 7497. Click Apply again.
- Go back to AutoInvest's Dashboard, click Reconnect again.
- On IB Gateway, click Configure -> Setting
